    BARBATUS

    Family:Callichthyid armored catfish, Callichthyidae.
    Characteristics:5 in, female more compact and plumper.
    Tank/Water:75g, water types 3-5, 72-79F.
    Care:Needs areas with soft substrate, some shelters in the form of plants, roots, or rocks, and plenty of open swimming space as well. Feed all small to medium-sized foods, also dry foods. Use special food as for Corydoras.
    Habits:Gregarious fish found in soft-bottomed areas of medium-sized rivers in eastern South America.
    Compatibility:Ideal companion for South American fish of the middle and upper tank strata.
