    BLACK GHOST KNIFEFISH

    Family:Knifefish, Apteronotidae.
    Characteristics:20 in, female has shorter snout.
    Tank/Water:225g, water types 2-5, 76-83F.
    Care:Keep one male with up to five females in a tank with roots and tubes as hiding places for each specimen. Accepts frozen and live foods (mosquito larvae, tubifex).
    Habits:Nocturnal species found in Amazonia, in many sandy-bottomed flowing waters. Communicates, and finds it way emitting weak electric signals. Eats insect larvae.
    Compatibility:With larger peaceful fish from South America such as angelfish, discus, and catfish.
    Similar species:Apteronotus leptorhyncus, 10.6 in.
