Are there any set standards for natural aquatic filters??? Looking to set one up for my 110 gal salt tank.

live rock, deep sand bed 5-6" and strong flow is the only way to get natural filtration, weekly water changes of at least 30% is a must.

2nd that (liverock and deep sand bed, I've also read where some are doing a undergravel filter with a reverse flow using powerheads/sponge, but that's with barebottoms and liverock).

I'm thinking of a combination of a wet /dry baffle filtered with live sand and algae chamber

do you mean a refugium? because i wouldn't use a wet/dry filter and try to convert it into a refugium (i've tried it) it doesn't work. i built a really simple one for my tank about 1 month ago and it has been working great in keeping levels down and stable....i just need a better light now. i believe i posted a pic of it under the photo section here.
