Hi!:) i want to try to groww some plants in my tank, just to help with keeping things clean, but I'm worried my fish will eat them before they get a chance to establish themselves. I was thinking of growing some in a large breeding net but would they still have the same effect on the water?

I don't have any experience with live plants in aquariums so I really can't answer your question. I did come across this link on plants that are good/best with gold fish.

Hardier plants, java fern and anubias should be okay with the goldies, you could try the net but I have never seen it done before...please let us know if you are successful.

Wouldn't you think by putting the plants in nets restrict their growth some ?

I actually hadn't thought of that if they grew fast enough i wouldn't mind the fish nibbleing on them a bit.

Try it out and see what happens. You got my curiosity, like I said before, I know next to nothing about aquarium plants.
