    have 5 chromis
    2 clown fish
    royal gramma
    filefish
    brittle starfish
and 20 hermit crabs (very small)
ive notice the longer arms are getting eaten but im not sure by what, almost to the fact of the whole thing dying
any suggestions on what could be the thing eating it?

What type of hermit crabs ? I would think it'd have to be them.

I thought so. I've heard they will sometimes ear corals and just by going by your stocking list they are the only thing I could see eating them.

the xenia is not getting eaten up it's just melting on you. i have tried to keep xenia in all my tanks and i have never been successful in it. it's a hit or miss when keeping it, for some ppl it grows like a weed and for others it just melts away.
